Food for Thought: Rational Numbers on a Number Line?

  1. No. We can still represent rational numbers on a line, as some of them are Natural numbers, Whole numbers and integers. If the rational number is a fraction or in decimals, we can represent them by drawing a line in between 2 dots. (Each circle represents a number and the line represents all the numbers in between the 2 numbers represented by the circles. If the circles are coloured in, we will also count them as a rational number.) In the question, in a number line, we can put a coloured circle on top on -5 and an empty circle on top of 4, and connect both circle with a line. So the following question is valid.

  3. Yes,Because many numbers are rational number but not all numbers between two whole numbers are rational numbers,thus we cannot just draw a line as it represent all the numbers are rational and there would not much space for the dots.
